Then he questioned, “how were you conceived? Can you explain? How have you been going through life? Do you have an answer to that?”
Stuttering, I could not utter a word even when I thought I had answers to his questions.
“Do not bother thinking of how everything happened, because I am the “how”. Soonest you’d understand,” he said.
I was as one that was dead. Laying still on the floor with my blanket loosely wrapped around me, I listened. I was alive yet dead.
Then with a voice that sounded like many waters, he said, “daughter, you are gold,
but you need to be chiselled out with troubles flame, trimmed with the sword of harsh soothes. You need be immersed in the ocean of the furnace,
and skillfully refined by me, the potter before others can see you as gold. I see not as man sees
I see you as gold, do not doubt that. But they see you not as that. You are of an inestimable value.”
It was as though my thoughts were written in a white slate before him for I was taken aback when he said, “think not of how you’d go through this period because my grace is sufficient for you.”
I had read this severally in my Bible but the manner in which he said it was peculiar.
Then he continued, “but remember daughter, you’d have to draw strength from me through my words.”
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” John 1:1.
“I am the Word. If you move far from it, you move far from me.”
Before I could ask further questions the voice disappeared into the thin air.
And I began to think deeply on the encounter till I opened my eyes and discovered that it was a revelation.
I had slept with eyes swollen from much crying but woke up with my heart overflowing with unending Joy.
Without doubt, hearing his voice was the answer I needed.
In the storms of life, His voice makes the difference.
Sometimes, going through life we’d harbour so many questions concerning why things have chosen to go the way they did. When such moments come, hearing the voice of God is what makes the difference.
A song goes thus:
“His voice makes the difference
when he speaks he relieves my troubled mind.
His the only voice I hear that
makes the difference
and I follow one day at a time.”
Job 14:14 says
If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.”
Remember, You are the gold and you are the Why. Hold on!
